On Thursday October 8th, IKS hosted its annual Hangeul Day celebration in collaboration with the Bloomington Sejong Institute and the Korean Cultural Center of Washington D.C. (KCCDC). Hangeul Day is the celebration of the creation of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet.
On Thursday October 8th, IKS – in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center of Washington D.C. (KCCDC) – hosted two rice cake making workshops. They were led by Jennifer L. Ban, founder and owner of Rice Blossoms LLC.
Chuseok and Mid-Autumn Festival 2026
On September 23rd, IKS—in collaboration with the IU Chinese and Korean language programs, National Taiwan University Office of International Affairs (NTU-OIA), Bloomington King Sejong Institute and the East Asian Studies Center—hosted a joint-celebration cultural event for Chuseok and Mid-Autumn Festival.
Bloomington Sejong Institute
The Bloomington Sejong Institute offers free Korean language courses and cultural events to residents of the City of Bloomington and surrounding counties.
Support, funding, and programming
We provide support and funding opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students who wish to pursue Korean Studies at IU. We also advance cultural fluency and public understanding of Korea through colloquia, lectures, and seminars.
