Three IU students participated in the First Midwest Korean Speech Contest. Shuyao Wang won first place in the intermediate level.
IKS held its Korean Speech Contest on March 2nd. Fourteen students participated. Winners were chosen from Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels.
IKS showcased the films of director Ryoo Seung-wan at Indiana University and our partner universities. Noted film scholars Darcy Paquet, Kyu Hyun Kim and Molly Kim introduced the films, and Director Ryoo joined the discussion via teleconference.
Participants of the first GW-IU Undergraduate Research Exchange Program have been selected and started research on their projects. These five outstanding students will produce a research paper and travel to George Washington University for a conference in April 2019 to present their research alongside students of GW. Congratulations to all of the participants!
Keith Seidel, Assistant Director of the Institute for Korean Studies won second prize in the 2018 Global Korean Literature Translation Award competition for his translation of the short story, Bukchon, by Lee Hye-kyung.
