IKS would like to warmly congratulate Professor Hyo Sang Lee for receiving the Hwa-gwan Order of Cultural Merit during the 2022 Hangeul Week, held in celebration of the 576th Hangeul Day by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. This is a very high honor reserved only for those who have made significant contributions to the development and dissemination of Korean language studies. We would also like to publically say "thank you" to Professor Lee for his continuous excellence in both teaching and research, and for his invaluable contributions to Korean at IU, both before and after the establishment of IKS. Professor Lee is an Associate Professor of Korean Language and Linguistics, as well as the Korean Language Program coordinator in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, and has been with IU Bloomington since 1993.Korean Language Article
